Position Purpose:

As a Class A CDL Driver at UNFI, you will be responsible for delivering products to customers. This includes loading and unloading the truck safely and efficiently, adhering to UNFI procedures, and minimizing delays. You will also pick up supplies and back-hauls from vendors.






Essential Functions & Basic Duties:

  • Perform pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles, following safe loading and handling procedures.
  • Review paperwork for accuracy and completeness, ensuring the correct number of boxes, addresses, and support documentation.
  • Complete time cards, enter trip data into the onboard computer, and maintain paper logs when necessary, complying with FMCSA regulations.
  • Deliver and unload products using equipment such as tractor trailers, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, and load bars. Verify piece count, obtain necessary signatures, and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
  • Operate vehicles safely within UNFI guidelines to minimize accidents, traffic violations, and public complaints.
  • Report accidents immediately to the Transportation Manager/Department.
  • Maintain the vehicle's safety and security, reporting any defects promptly using the DCVR form.
  • Pick up supplies and back-hauls from vendors and complete related paperwork.
  • Address and resolve customer problems as needed.
  • Attend mandatory driver meetings, training, and administrative sessions.
  • Project a professional image by dressing in company-provided clothing.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

  • Ensure customer orders arrive in excellent condition and match customer specifications.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers and vendors.
  • Follow Company standards and safety regulations for driving and loading functions.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration and a valid state-specific Commercial Drivers License, Class A.
  • Pass a written exam and road test.
  • Basic knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) laws and mandates.
  • Understanding of UNFI's safety standards.
  • Experience Preferred: Minimum of one year of verified experience operating a tractor-trailer. Must be 21 years of age.
